Good Luck to the Class of 2016

Dear Ortonville-Brandon Community,

On June 12, 255 Brandon High School seniors will finally walk across the stage and receive their diploma. While I know that it seems like it was only yesterday when these students first began as kindergarteners, they have come so far in their 13 years as Brandon Blackhawks. As a school district, we are so proud of our seniors and we are looking forward to seeing all the amazing things that they will do as Brandon alumni.

As our seniors prepare to take the next step in their journey, I would like to share a few of the following highlights of this year’s class:

n

91 percent of Brandon High School graduates plan to continue their education at college next fall. 65 percent plan to attend a 4-year college and 26 percent plan to begin at community college. This is a strong increase from last year and it represents the attainment of one of the district’s Brandon 2025 goals.

n

We have other graduates that will be going into the trades including carpentry, automotive, electrical, masonry and more. Another 2 percent of our graduates will be joining the military.

n

38 percent of Brandon graduates will attend college with some sort of scholarship.

n

17 Brandon graduates have signed National Letters of Intent to play college athletics in the fall.nSome of the top colleges that Brandon graduates will attend include: Oakland University, Grand Valley State University, Oakland Community College, Michigan State, the University of Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Michigan Tech, the College for Creative Studies, Lawrence Tech and Kettering.

n

17 Brandon graduates plan to attend college out-of-state next fall.

No matter what the pathway might be for our graduates, we are so proud of them and we wish them all the best in the future. To our graduates, we thank you for spending the past 13 years with us. It has truly been an honor. Congratulations and Go Blackhawks!!!
