Henry Carl Lozier

Henry L copyHenry Carl Lozier of Ortonville passed away on Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at his home.

He was 69.

Henry was born on Oct. 13, 1947, in Goodrich to the late Carl and Rose (Spezia) Lozier. He was raised in Ortonville and attended Brandon High School, graduating in 1965. On Dec. 2, 1967, he married Dedra Thornton in Flint. Henry was employed at Michigan Bell and Ameritech Phone Company, retiring in 2002.

He was a member of Ortonville Masonic Lodge #339 as a 32nd Degree Mason and Order of the Eastern Star #286. Henry was a Master Mason and very involved with the Masonic Organization and enjoyed many great friendships while being involved with the Masons. He was also an officer with Oakland County Association of Eastern Stars. Henry enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and doing woodworking and improvement projects. He was a loving man who enjoyed raising his family and took pride in being a good provider to his wife and children. Henry enjoyed teaching his children the importance of family and instilling in them the values and heritage that was passed down through many generations. He truly liked to work as that was part of his upbringing and he gave it his all. He also liked to play and relax in his personal time. He traveled, camped, did local theater productions, community projects, offered a helping hand to anyone who had need, chaperoned numerous events and rocked every baby that he could. He loved traveling with his wife to Jamaica, Hawaii, Panama Canal, Boston, Alaska and a Mississippi Barge Cruise in New Orleans.

“My father was an amazing man, he loved growing up in Ortonville and being a part of the community,” said Amanda Pilarski, Henry’s daughter. “His contribution to the community helped so many people. He loved the Books for Bikes program, he talked about how fun it was to give bikes to those little kids and making them happy. Dad was the friend everyone wanted to have, you could always count on him to lend a helping hand. He loved people and had many friends throughout the community. I could not have asked for a better father, he enjoyed life and took such good care of all of us. He will be missed so much by all of us.”

Survived by his wife, Dedra; three children, Deanna (Paul) Rouster of Grass Lake, Mich., Dale (Kathy) Lozier of Ortonville, Amanda (Jason) Pilarski of Alpena; eight grandchildren, Maureen Rouster, Joshua Severiede, Kayleen Rouster, Tyler Lozier, A.J. Lozier, Paul Rouster, Jr., George Pilarski, Jillian Pilarski; three great-grandchildren, Jesse, Norah, Lilliana; and brother, Joseph (Marge) Lozier of Grass Lake.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rose Lozier, and his great-granddaughter, Grace Victoria Morrissey.

Masonic memorial service will be 11 a.m. Dec. 1, 2016 under the auspices of the Ortonville Masonic Lodge #339 immediately followed by a Christian memorial service at Village Funeral Home, 135 South St., Ortonville. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the memorial. Final resting place will be at Ortonville Cemetery.
