High winds rip area’damage, power out

Mark Donahue of Flint-based CDC Calkins Donahue Construction Company works to repair the roof on the Masonic Temple in downtown Goodrich on Monday. About 75 percent of the 76-by-26 roof on the 128-year-old building was peeled off during the weekend storms and fell two stories to Hegel Road below. On Dec. 28, the National Weather Service at White Lake Township reported wind gusts of 47 mph at about 5 a.m. in Holly, 52 mph in Flint and 45 mph in Clarkston. The high winds left several thousand area DTE and Consumers Energy customers without power. Photo by David Fleet.
