veterans monument at the Ortonville Cemetery were removed recently.

“We just want them back,” said Dennis Hoffman, Ortonville VFW commander. “The military hats were donated by the local families of veterans and have been a part of the monument for the past few years.”

Hoffman said the WWII helmet has a dent from use in combat.

“The military equipment is a part of the tribute to those who served locally from the Civil War though Operation Enduring Freedom,” he said. “They are important to many people.”
