New troopers join Groveland satellite

The Michigan State Police announced last week the assignment of Troopers Jeffery Rodgers, 25, of Swartz Creek, Eric Shumaker, 29, of St. Clair and Michael Liddy, 25, of Saginaw, as graduated members of the 121 Trooper Recruit School.
The three troopers will work from the Groveland Township Satellite office and are among 83 recruits sworn in statewide.
The local office will now be staffed with 12 troopers. The additional personnel will be the first new troopers added to the site in four years.
All new troopers participate in a 17-week field training program. During the program, new troopers are paired with experienced troopers in shifts. The program helps new troopers apply their studies to real-life police work and conduct investigations under the supervision of seasoned troopers.
With the addition of the 121st Trooper Recruit graduates, the MSP now has 1,084 at-post troopers statewide.
