Paris Dreams Art and Antiques

Ortonville- For Linda Byorth-Detrio, owner of Paris Dreams Art and Antiques, 421 Mill St. the myriad of unique items that adorn her downtown store reflect history in a distinctive way.
‘Each item tells a story of a time gone by,? said Linda. ‘The idiosyncrasies and lifestyles of those who lived years ago can be found in antiques.?
In addition to antiques, Paris Dreams also feature murals, portraits, fine art, painted furniture, custom curtains, slipcovers, pillows, upholstery and jewelry to name a few.
A Nebraska native, Linda grew up on a rural farm which fostered her self-sufficient creativity.
‘My grandparents were antiques collectors,? she said. ‘Also living that far out in the country you learn to do without and be creative with what you have.?
Rural life enhanced Byorth-Detrio’s ability as a seamstress by making her own clothes and honed her skill as an artist.
For more than 30 years Byorth-Detrio served as a licensed practical Nurse and as a consultant to more than 60 nursing homes in Michigan. She retired in 1999 due to health reason.
The items in Paris Dreams reflect a time when quality was paramount, says Byorth-Detrio.
‘The clothes, furniture and other antiques tell a story of the people who lived years ago.?
Byorth-Detrio plans for next year include offering a class in silk painting and creating felt alpaca fiber. Also, she plans to open the store up to exibits for artists each month.Details: (248) 701-0429.
