Brandon Twp.- On Monday night the township board of trustees voted 6-0 the submission of an application for the 2018 Michigan Department of

Brandon Township Community Park
Brandon Township Community Park

Natural Resources Land and Water Conservation Fund Grant.
The grant, if awarded, would fund the development of a concession stand and comfort station at the Brandon Township Community Park, 1414 N. Hadley Road. It would include restrooms, benches, picnic tables, signage and a pathway, all of which would be accessible.
“I feel like I’m on my last leg of the park if we get the concession stand,” said Parks and Recreation Director Fred Waybrant.
The proposed application would ask the DNR to approve a grant for $120,400, and the township would match that and add an additional $10,600 from cell tower funds, for a total of $251,400 for the whole project. Waybrant cites that an extra amount added in would make the DNR happy.
“They like when you do that,” he said.
The project wold take place during the 2018-2019 fiscal year, and the grant application will be submitted by March 23. Currently the projects from the two previous grants are beginning, with the baseball fields and parking being put in place this spring.
