Township trustee seat now open

Groveland Twp.- The township is seeking a trustee following the resignation of Merilyn McGee.
Township residents have until June 4 to applied for the remainder of the term which will expire on Nov. 20, 2020. Candidates must be 18 years old, a resident of the township for 30 days and be a registered voter.
McGee was elected in 2016 to a four year term as township trustee.
McGee joined the Groveland Township Fire Department in 1974, as a firefighter/secretary. She was promoted through each position into becoming Michigan’s first female Fire Chief in 1974. She then retired as township fire chief in 2001, but remained active as liaison/chaplain. During her time as fire chief she attended continued her education at Maryland Fire Academy, Fire Department /certification in fire science, emergency medical, classes in suicide prevention and certification as an ordained Chaplain.
