The Lake Orion Lion’s Club Jubilee will be in town beginning June 29 through July 4 (clean-up day). Downtown area village streets will be closed to traffic starting a 6 a.m. on Tuesday for placement of carnival rides.
LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh recommends commuters use an alternate route to and from work to avoid traffic congestion.
Some public parking lots will be closed to public parking for the duration of the festival for carnival placement. They are the lower municipal parking lot located at Front and Anderson, next to Children’s Park; the parking lot next to the Lake Orion Veterinary Hospital; and the parking lot next to The Lake Orion Review.
Public property on both sides of M-24 from South Broadway to Flint Street will be closed to all persons beginning at 8 a.m. on July 3, the day of the fireworks.
Narsh said this closure is necessary to ensure adequate safe space to conduct the fireworks display.
Bellevue Island, Park Island and Pelton’s Point will be closed to non-resident traffic at 6 p.m. on July 3.
According to Narsh, two way traffic must be maintained for police and fire services at all times on all streets. Parking is not allowed on paved streets unless otherwise marked.
