Fifty three customers in the downtown area and in the East Flint area can breathe a sigh of relief. They won’t have to pay any penalty fees for late payment of their April utility bill.
LO Village Manger JoAnn Van Tassel told council members on June 14 the late fees should be waived because these bills were not delivered as they should have been.
She said the village only became aware of this problem after the past due notices were sent out.
‘All of them (customers) have a history of paying that bill on time. When they received the past due notice, they immediately came in, paid the bill, and indicated they hadn’t received the original bill,? she added.
