A 16-year-old Harrison Township man driving a 2001 Porsche Carrera westbound on Indianwood Road in Orion Township Monday night lost control of the vehicle and flipped it on its side.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Timko, the accident occurred east of Ferhurst Road, when the driver lost control and went on to the gravel shoulder of the road. He then hit a wrought iron fence and tree before flipping the Porsche and landing it on the passenger’s side.
Witnesses stated the driver was not speeding, Timko said.
The driver was able to exit vehicle on his own. However, his passenger, a 38-year-old Lake Orion man, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by Orion and Oxford firefighters.
The Lake Orion man was transported to the POH Medical Center in Pontiac. The driver was cited for failure to use due care and caution.
Both men were wearing their seatbelts and no alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, according to Timko. ? Oxford Leader Editor C.J. Carnacchio
