Through nearly 56 years, Gerald and Alice Marsh have remained true to one another and their community.
The couple, who were married Aug. 13, 1948, will celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary this coming Friday. They originally met when the former Alice Burton moved with her family from Hadley Township to Ortonville.
‘I was a paper boy and milkman at her folks? place,? Gerald Marsh said.
Gerald and Alice were married at a parsonage in Oxford and have lived on Sands Road in Ortonville ever since. ‘I was born and raised here ? that’s all I know, I guess,? he said.
The couple had eight children ? Cheryl, Nancy, Patty, Sally, Gerald Jr., Laurie, Jeannie, and Barbara. They also have 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Gerald said the couple will travel to celebrate their anniversary. ‘We’re going to take a trip, but I don’t know where to yet.?
