Downtown Lake Orion honors 45 volunteers

Volunteers who served on the Downtown Development Authority and on the four Main Street committees were honored by Downtown Lake Orion on Aug. 18.
In 2003, 1,419 volunteer hours were given to Downtown Lake Orion by 45 people.
A dinner and reception was held for the volunteers in the community room of Lake Orion’s United Methodist Church. Organization committee chair, Lisa Sokol greeted the guests who mingled , socialized and ate before the ceremony.
DDA Board President pro-tem Brad Jacobsen thanked the group for their commitment. Becky Goodman, downtown coordinator, also spoke, noting the many accomplishments that have been made by Downtown Lake Orion through the Main Street program.
The voice of Downtown Lake Orion, Wes Fuelling, concluded the evening by commending each of the volunteers personally for their work in the Main Street program.
All volunteers received a personalized certificate and a Downtown Lake Orion gift certificate.
After the program, the volunteers were invited to be special guests at the Paint Creek Summer Series in the gazebo at Children’s Park where the Paint Creek Boys were performing.
Volunteers who were recognized are Stephen Auger, Nikki Bateman, Rock Blanchard, Peggy Bruscha, Todd Daniels, Jerry Dywasuk, Pat Fuelling, Wes Fuelling, Diane Griffiths, Dick Hassberger, Reggie Harrison, Donna Heyniger, Bob Hollenbeck, Joan Hoover, Jim Ingram, Brad Jacobsen, Ron Kalso, Jack Kobliska, Jennifer Rowe, Kim Santini, Chuck Schneider, Sandra Shephard, Joyce Shobe, Linda Sickles, Bill Siver, Lisa Sokol, Len Sokol, Ken Van Portfliet, Jill Verros and Diane Worzala.
The Main Street Mingle will become an annual event.
