Clarkston varsity girls swimming was able to wrap up their regular season with a win against Stoney Creek, on Oct. 21. The final tally was Clarkston 107, Stoney Creek 79.
‘It was a league meet, so it was important to us,? said Coach Kenwyn Chock.
Clarkston’s swimmers finished first in eight of the 12 events. Senior Chelsea Hassett was particularly strong for the Wolves winning the 50 and 100 freestyle events. She also teamed with sophomore Amanda Hassett, senior Erin Richards and senior Kelly Kiel for a win in the 200 freestyle relay.
Clarkston posted a 6-1 record in the league with a 9-3 mark overall.
‘I was happy with the way we trained this year, we stayed healthy and our times really dropped from last year,? said Chock.
Clarkston has been chosen to host the OAA Division III meet which runs Nov. 3-5. The emphasis for the team during the layoff will be to rest as much as possible to get the girls? legs fresh for the competition.
‘We are resting inside and outside of the pool,? said Chock.
Aside from the physical aspect of preparation, Chock has given her team a little extra homework to better prepare them for the OAA meet.
‘Every night before they go to bed they are visualizing their swims at the OAA’s,? said Chock.
The OAA meet begins with the swimming preliminaries. Diving preliminaries are scheduled for Nov. 4 and the finals of both are to commence on Nov. 5.
