Goodrich hockey splits pair of games against Clio, Carmen-Ainsworth

Goodrich’s hockey team will look to get back in the win column after being shut out Dec. 5.
The host Martians gave up two goals in the second period and three goals in the third period of their game against Carmen-Ainsworth, suffering a 5-0 shutout loss.
Goodrich actually managed more shots on goal in the game (39) than Carmen-Ainsworth, who directed 22 shots at Goodrich goalie Brad Smith.
The game was marred by plenty of penalties on both sides. A total of 24 penalties were called, 12 on each side.
In a Dec. 3 game, Max Hawkins notched a hat trick as the host Martians defeated Clio 5-2. The game was tied at one heading into the third period, but the Martians outscored Clio 4-1 in the final stanza to earn the win.
Hawkins scored one goal in the first period and two in the second period. Reece Geml and Brian Van Kuren scored the other two goals for the Martians.
