Home Project Central began with a married couple and a new house. Mitchell and his wife Donna kept a ‘honey-do? list for projects to maintain the home. After a while, the list grew and Mitch was forced to take care of business.
So Mitch did what any person in need of help would do ? he opened the yellow pages and began his search. Mitch’s head filled with questions, ‘Which yellow page directory?? ‘Which heading?? ‘Which local directory should I check next??
Mitch picked up the phone and began dialing numbers. He kept dialing and dialing, but wasn’t achieving success.
‘After spending two frustrating hours on the phone and getting nowhere fast, I realized what a waste of a beautiful Saturday morning,? said Mitch. ‘I should be walking my dog or spending time with my daughter.?
At that moment, an idea was created: ‘Why can’t I go to one source, the Internet, and find multiple local contractors in my area??
The source would list contractors, their name, phone number and email address; but the best part, this would take a few moments versus half a day. That is exactly what Mitch did.
Home Project Central Inc. was established in 2001. The business is a free consumer service where people can find, locate and contact local contractors, home improvement professionals and suppliers. The service is simple, convenient and free.
Home Project Central offersa web and printed directory of willing local contractors in your area. HPC produces a printed version of it’s web directory. It’s the only Home Improvement directory of it’s kind in southeast Michigan.
Even better, the company website is unbelievable. From the time a person turns on their computer and performs the ‘Power Search? they have the contact information in a matter of seconds. The website is quick, powerful and intuitive because a login and password are not required. Anybody can utilize this resource and the feedback is instantaneous.
Mitch, along with partners Dennis Ptak, Armando Cruz and Juan Limon, have worked hard to build the business and reputation.
Now, five years later, they have proved their success. In 2003, HPC printed 20,000 directories; in 2004 printed 100,000; and will print one million for 2005. Still the only printed home improvement directory in southeast Michigan.
The benefits to HPC are endless for both consumers and participating businesses. The consumer has the opportunity to view all participating businesses and has the option to directly email questions to one or more business at a time.
The Business has the advantage of knowing their name is published in an exclusive directory. With over 300 active businesses participating and hundreds of consumers per day coming to the website directory looking for local contractors they can trust throughout southeast Michigan and in their own backyard. HPC is fast becoming the resource of choice for both the consumers and the contractors to get connected.
HPC is proud to be associated with theMichigan Business & Professional Association. Both organizations offer special programs and member to member discounts. Call MBPA and ask for Jennifer Werner at 586-393-8800 or email: jwerner@michnusiness.org.
