Maggie’s Scrapbooking

With thousands of styles of pattern paper, stickers and embellishments and a friendly, experienced staff, Maggie’s Scrapbooking is aiming to turn the hobby of turning snap shots into mementos a pastime in Clarkston.
‘We are not just a place where people drop in and get the products they want, we involve our customers,? owner Kerri Kacanowski said.
While people who know exactly what they are looking can easily waltz in and out of Maggie’s Scrapbooking with their purchase in hand, they may not want to leave after meeting the knowledgable staff.
‘Between my four designers there is at least 30 years of experience and each one specializes in different areas,? Kacanowski said.
Aside from the designers, the rest of Kacanowski’s staff is eager but not anxious to help someone navigate the store.
‘We greet people when they come in. We give them time to get acquainted. People appreciate that,? Kacanowski said.
To ensure quality time is spent while visiting Maggie’s, the store is laid out in a logical and easy to comprehend manner.
On one wall scrapbooking supplies representing the months of the year are laid out in chronological order with the appropriate holidays interspersed. The opposite wall features the life cycle as frames commemorating a new birth are followed by first day of school stickers and varsity letters.
Though their selection is immense, specialty orders are another way Maggie’s is set apart from the rest.
‘As an independent store we can specialize to our customer’s needs. On average we do five specialty orders a day,? said Kacanowski.
What truly separates Maggie’s from other independent scrapbook stores and large craft stores is the culture the build in the store through unique classes and club programs.
Maggie’s classes are as voluminous as they are diverse, ranging from ABC magnetic lunch boxes to photo albums constructed with old CDs.
The Crop Club offers frequent, and even occasional scrapbookers, a chance to save money and interact with fellow hobbyists.
‘If you are cropping twice a month the Crop Club will save you money, plus it’s very therapeutic for people come here to hang out with us,? Kacanowski said.
Crop Club members receive a three percent discount on all purchases and half off all crops.
Aside from serving as a social gathering place, Maggie’s boasts the largest crop area around, suitable for over 34 people and stocked with the latest tools, embellishments and paper selections for scrapbooking.
Maggie’s Scrapbooking is located at 6325 Sashabaw Road, just south of I-75 on the west side of the road, next to Leo’s. For more information on classes or specialty orders call 248-620-1330 or visit their website at www.maggiesscrapbooking.com.
