Goodrich’s girls track team swept its two league foes in an April 18 meet, while the Goodrich boys track team came close to duplicating that feat.
The Martian girls defeated Byron 120-17 and LakeVille 93-44, while the Martian boys defeated LakeVille 87-45 and narrowly lost to Byron 70-67.
The Goodrich girls are now 3-0 in Genesee Area Conference action, while the Goodrich boys are 2-1.
The Martian girls took four of five field events. Sarah Sweet won the shot put (31?3?); Joanne Carter won the discus (101?8?); Jessica Schneider won the high jump (4?6?); and Casey Tubbs won the pole vault (7?).
In relay events, the Martians won two events, with the 3200 meter relay team of Kelsey Meyers, Laura Haiderer, Sam Minkler and Kelsey Krych winning in 10:57.68, and the 800 meter relay team of Sarah Sweet, Paige Plant, Brittany Coulman and Christina Sweet won in 1:56.64.
Krych also won two other events, the 1600 meters (5:41.49) and the 800 meters (2:31.4), while Christina Sweet won the 400 meters (1:02.36) and Meyers won the 3200 meters (12:43.11).
Like the girls team, the Martian boys won four of five field events. Jake Winston won the shot put (42?10?); Jake McGinnis won the discus (109?10?); Eric Hughes won the long jump (18?1?); and Joe Leppek won the pole vault (12?).
The Martians? 3200 meter relay team of Chad Marler, Jeremy Gauthier, Brandon DeGrouchy and Matt Fauth won in 9:53.58. Marler also won the 1600 meter run (5:11.84), while DeGrouchy won the 800 meters (2:22.05) and Gauthier won the 3200 meters (11:18.11).
