Dear Editor,
The people who are against a new senior center disturb me. I attend a grief counseling session at the center once a month because my husband died over a year ago. In the summer, we cannot have the air conditioner operating because we cannot hear each other, the windows cannot be opened because of code violations so if we want to be comfortable, the doors can be opened but then all the bugs come in.
I am still working full time so I do not participate in any daily activities at the center, but I feel very sorry for them.
I was born in Clarkston many, many years ago. In fact, my father, Charles Rockwell, was mayor of Clarkston for awhile. All of you people have discovered Clarkston and suddenly it is YOUR town and you seem to think you can make all the decisions as to what we need here.
We seniors are paying for your little darlings to go to the wonderful schools in Clarkston and we certainly have no one attending them. So let’s be fair, you can help pay for the center and we’ll keep paying our taxes so your children can have air conditioned schools, swimming pools, sports teams with stadiums with artificial turf, which I’m sure we really needed, and all the other necessities they seem to need.
