Dear Editor,
As longtime residents of Independence Township, we support the rezoning request being made by McLaren Health Care. We support the planned Health Care Campus with Hospital proposal and believe a hospital in the Sashabaw corridor would be a perfect fit for this area. It is a much needed medical facility that will benefit all independence Township residents.
The jobs created and influx of money to the surrounding community by those who will use this facility would be a much needed boost to the economy of Independence Township. We also believe that having a hospital in the township is an asset to the community and is not detrimental to the community as some are now claiming. If approved, it will raise our standard of living and make Independence Township one that others will envy.
When the planning commission makes its final decision, we hope that all of our community needs are taken into consideration and not just the isolationist views of C.O.G. We also hope the planning commission realizes that this small group in no way represents the views or the wishes of all of the township’s residents, and it most certainly does not represent us because we want a hospital.
