When I moved here and again two years ago prior to investing $40,000 in my property, I checked the Township Master Plan Future Land Use Map to see what the township had planned for my area of the community.
This plan was approved and adopted by the township in 1991. The 1996 revision did not indicate that it would allow high density uses in the Rural Agricultural District; in fact, it called for an increase in lot sizes in this district from three acres to five acres. The township has a plan; it was created by the planning commission, township residents, and knowledgable township consultants. It was approved by the planning commission and the township board. We, the residents of the township are counting on you, the planning commission, to uphold your master plan. We expect, and rightly so, that protecting the Rural Estate land use is just as important, if not more so, than protecting commercial and industrial districts.
Adopting the criteria for mobile home park zoning that does not include exclusion of land zoned for Rural Estate places over 65 percent of our township in jeopardy. We trust you to protect our investments, our homes and our community. Please live up to these expectations and make the right decision for the residents of this township, not just for mobile home park developers of future businesses.
Thank you,
Susan A. Arnold
