The Lady Dragons varsity cheerleaders have been hard at work practicing for their new, more competitive season.
‘We have a small, but extremely talented senior class to lead this team and we expect amazing things from them, as well as our multi-talented juniors and sophomores,? said Varsity Cheerleading Coach Nancy deAvila.
Looking forward to a new tournament set-up this year, de Avila said there will be the introduction of districts for the first time.
‘We will need to qualify for regionals by earning a top four finish at districts and likewise, a top four finish at regionals will qualify us for a trip to the finals,? said deAvila.
Rochester Adams will join the division in the O.A.A. raising the number of teams from five to six.
The additional competition, Rochester and Rochester Stoney Creek, will remain among the top competition in their league.
The districts that are represented at their regional competition include the defending state champion team from Grandville as well as consistent top ten teams from Hartland, East Kentwood and Rockford.
‘I have been eagerly anticipating this season for a long time now and expect an extraordinary season. The kids are fully prepared to raise their level of competitiveness to be successful in our new regional and are really excited for the changes this season brings,? said deAvila.
