Ortonville resident delivers to Walter Reed

Mary Cesarz did not stop feeling patriotic after Memorial Day weekend. The Ortonville resident has been delivering patriotic quilts to wounded servicemen at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. since March. She plans on continuing her service until November.
Cesarz and Carole Carroll of Oxford have sponsored a ‘quilt-in,? an organized quiltmaking session held at the Independence Village retirement community in Oxford.
Cesarz said creating and delivering quilts is a fitting way to show appreciation to an injured veteran because it is a tangible gift.
Cesarz and Carroll would like to find other quilters to join their quilting brigade. To contact Cesarz, she can be reached at noonoo1942@yahoo.com or at (248) 627-6061.
‘A quilt won’t fix anything,? Cesarz said, ‘but it is our way to show we care.?
