Deal pending on Kalloway’s property

By now just about everybody in town’s seen the ‘sold? sign in front of what used to be Kalloway’s Restaurant and Pub (595 N. Lapeer Rd.).
A lot of folks are wondering who’s the new owner(s) and what’s going to become of the once-popular local eatery and watering hole, which closed at the end of December last year.
Unfortunately, try as we might, the Leader simply couldn’t get those answers for our readers this week.
‘Right now, that sale is pending and until it closes, we really are not in a position to divulge any information about the new owner,? said Dominic Alessi, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Shooltz Realty in Oxford. ‘When it does close, we will certainly let you know.?
No specific closing date has been set yet, according to Alessi.
The property, which consists of 2.7 acres of land and a 7,239-square-foot building, was listed with the local real estate office after Oxford Bank took possession of it in March.
Oxford Bank initiated foreclosure proceedings on the property, and was the only bidder for it at a sheriff’s sale conducted in late September last year.
The amount owed on the mortgage was $1.25 million.
