The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department has called the school district’s emergency procedures in case of threats “adequate.”
According to LO School Superintendent Dr. Craig Younkman, the sheriff’s department is the district’s homeland security contact.
“They reviewed what we would do,” Younkman added. “I think we’re in good shape.”
Younkman offered several examples of what the school district would do if an orange alert was issued.
“No children would be allowed outside the building (during the day) and we would probably curtail field trips,” he said.
The school district has a committee that worked on safety procedures after 9/11.
