Township continues recyclable program for residents

Brandon Twp.- Township officials have again contracted with Bedrock Express, LTD to provide recycling and large refuse collection for residents from April through December.
Recyclable collection begins April 1, with residents able to take materials to the gravel pit located at 14415 CMI Drive in Groveland Township, near Grange Hall Road, just east of I-75. Accepted until December will be metals including home appliances; wood, including brush, logs, lumber, furniture, pallets, and new construction debris; and cement. Car tires will be accepted for a charge of $3 each and truck tires for an additional charge of $5 each. Freon extraction from refrigerators or air conditioning units will also be available. Appointments can be made for drop-off on weekdays or Saturday mornings. During the month of September only, of large non-recyclable items including drywall, plastics, fiberglass and carpeting will be accepted at Ortonville Properties, 910 S. Ortonville Road. Drop-off times will be weekends and Friday evenings, with the exception of Labor Day weekend. Materials not accepted at any time will be any kind of perishable garbage, tractor tires, asphalt, and hazardous waste including wolmanized wood, cleaners, paint, chemicals and solvent. Last year, 384 residents utilized the recyclable and large-item collections at a cost to the township of $9,500. For more information, visit www.brandontownship.us.
