Fast balls – Lady Cats speed ahead

The Lady Wildcat softball team is sitting pretty with an overall 2-0 record thanks to last night’s 8-2 and 2-0 wins against Davison.
In the first game, the Lady Cats led Davison by six runs in the second inning, and kept the Cardinals shut out until the fifth. Winning pitcher Claire Vernarsky had three hits and seven strike outs. Offensively she went two for three.
Catcher Jessica Anhel pushed forward three for three. She had two triples, one double and two RBIs. Andrea Olesky wasn’t far behind her teammate. She had two RBIs for the game.
The second game, which was called for darkness after the fifth inning, had Oxford leading 2-0 in the second inning. Leading offensively was Megan Bono and Elise Rendell, each going two for two. Bono was also the winning pitcher with two hits and 0 strike outs.
The highlight player for the game was Ali Belmonte who squeezed in Bono for her second run.
The Lady Cats are away tomorrow at Goodrich High School.
