Lake Orion Council members have gone on record saying they like the idea of re-timing traffic lights throughout much of Oakland County.
The Road Commission for Oakland County is asking for support from municipalities. The commission has obtained Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality funds to cover 100 percent of the cost.
Monies will be used to hire a consultant to meet with communities to determine any special time needs or special circumstances. The only village traffic light that could be discussed is the one at the Flint/Broadway intersection downtown.
‘This is a three year project. They’ll probably get to Lake Orion in the third year,? LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel said.
The road commission plans to install the FAST-TRAC system at traffic lights on M-24 beginning in Auburn Hills and going through Oxford.
