Orion Township Trustee Eric Wilson assumed a new position today as he was to be sworn in as an Oakland County Commissioner for District 3.
Wilson (R) was the winner of a general election held on June 17 to find a replacement for former District 3 Commissioner Larry Obrecht, who resigned in March to take over Oakland County Animal Control. Wilson will finish out Obrecht’s two-year term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2004.
Wilson won the election in Oakland Township with 433 votes, or about 68 percent, compared to Myslakowski (D) who had 207 votes, or about 32 percent. In Orion, voters chose Wilson with 1,113 votes, or about 65 percent; while Myslakowski had 602 votes, or about 35 percent.
Voter turnout in Orion was 1,722 of 22,538 registered voters, or about 8 percent. Turnout in Oakland was 641 of 9,608 registered voters, or about 7 percent.
Wilson will have to step down as Orion Township Trustee to take over the commissioner position. It was not known at press time when the board would appoint someone to fufill his term.
