Rectum. Damn near ruined ‘im.
The other week I wrote about how — ever the sheep, follower-type — I joined the grow-your-moustache-Movember bandwagon.
Which, is in effect, an effort to get men to go see their butt doctors and get their prostates checked out (amongst other things).
Soon after said column was published, Clarkston-area veterinarian and founder of Advanced PetCare of Oakland, Bryan Cornwall reached out.
‘Hey, we at the office are taking part in Movember, too,? said he. ‘But, we’re going a step further.?
No, the gals in the office are not growing mustaches in solidarity with their male counterparts.
For everybody who donates to Bryan’s American Cancer Society No-Shave November fund raiser, he will match with a donation to the Animal Cancer Foundation, to further their research. If you didn’t know, like I didn’t, November is also National Pet Cancer Awareness Month.
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in both dogs and cats.
‘This year, nearly 1.5 million people will be diagnosed with cancer,? Bryan said, adding, ‘In addition, the Animal Cancer Foundation says about 12 million dogs and cats are diagnosed with cancer annually. The Animal Cancer Foundation is committed to funding and developing research focused on the similarity of cancer in pets and people that will expedite therapeutic and preventive benefits for both.?
Advanced PetCare of Oakland is located at 6378 Sashabaw Road, Clarkston, 48346. To donate to Bryan’s fund-raising efforts please visit this website: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/Dr_BCornwall

Speaking of businesses reaching out to help others, I got this e-mail from another Clarkston area business:
‘The Birdfeeder, Clarkston Flower Shoppe, and Bonnie & Clyde’s most influential event will take place on Sunday, December 21, from 12-4 p.m., Meet Santa Claus & His Live Reindeer to benefit Toys for Tots. The event attracts over 1,200 people and this year, with the support of Mateen Cleaves? 1 Goal 1 Passion Organization and Paws from the Detroit Tigers, we expect it to be even more successful. Our goal is to bring in close to 1,500 people and impact over 500 families who are less fortunate.
? . . . We are asking for sponsorships from local businesses and individuals whose vision aligns with our own, to truly make a difference in our community. By giving to this annual event, you will support Toys for Tots and help us give less fortunate children in our community a Christmas morning they’ll always remember! These toys deliver a message of hope that will assist these children in becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens.?
If you didn’t know, Toys for Tots is an official activity of the U. S. Marine Corps and an official mission of the Marine Corps Reserve.
If you wanna? help out, contact them with a phone call 248-625-9007 or send them an e-mail to, thebirdfeedermi@gmail.com
Those three businesses are all at one location, 7150 North Main St, Clarkston 48346. People can also donate by going to our Website www.Advanced-PetCare.com and clicking on the ‘No-Shave November? link on the right side near the top.

You may remember a column I wrote a million years ago about Poop coffee. If you don’t remember here’s a recap:
Some people like to drink coffee made with coffee beans fermented in the stomachs of wild critters and pooped out.
They pay good money, like $50 a pound for the stuff. And in my blas? attitude and cocky way, I wrote, though now a coffee snob, I will not drink any dark, steamy beverage that comes from the south end of anything. I don’t care what it smells like.
Anyway, this column has nothing to do with poop coffee, and everything to do with your hero (me), now the coffee snob.
I used to be the guy who drank whatever was on sale at the local grocer. Then Kirk and Amy Walker opened ABeanToGo Coffee Shop, Internet Cafe and retail store a mile from my home in Goodrich. And, a snob I’ve been ever since.
Last week, Kirk expanded his business to downtown Lake Orion! If you wanna? be like Don (I love talking about myself in the third person), check out their brand new operation on the north side Flint Street.
If you’re not a coffee snob yet, you soon will be. Kirk imports all his beans from around the globe and roasts them himself. Talk about fresh, favorable coffee.
It is the best in Michigan.
