Curtis Wright, 20, of Davisburg and White Lake resident Eric Hanlon, 21, face home invasion charges in connection with two burglaries in Springfield Township, Oct. 3.
A homeowner in the 10000 block of Bigelow was leaving for work at about 2:30 a.m. that morning when he noticed a black SUV parked at the end of their driveway.
About 20 minutes later, his wife heard a noise in the living room and discovered a man inside her home. He fled the residence and she called 911.
Six Oakland County deputies responded. While at the residence, a deputy noticed a black Ford Explorer drive by. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the passenger, Wright, fled on foot. The officers caught him and took him into custody. Inside of the vehicle were two backpack leaf blowers, a weed whip and an edger.
A detective found Wright matched the description of the suspect who was inside the residence. The driver of the vehicle, Hanlon, was identified by the husband as the suspect he had observed at the end of the driveway when he left for work.
Deputies also responded to a second residence in the 10000 block of Bigelow on a report of a home invasion, earlier that morning. The homeowner said his lawn equipment was stolen from his attached garage. The items found in the suspects? vehicle were identified as the homeowners’ stolen property.
Both suspects were arraigned in 52-2 District Court on two counts of home invasion and larceny of less than $200.
Wright, who was also charged with resisting police, is held on a $50,000 cash bond. Hanlon is held on a $50,000 personal bond.
Probable cause hearing is set for Oct. 16, and pretrial exam, Oct. 23.
