Downtown businesses are joining forces with McLaren and Independence Senior Community Center to turn the town pink ? for a good cause.
The combined Paint the Town Pink and Pampered event to raise funds and awareness of Breast Cancer will be from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15.
“Have a good time, support the cause and support the community,” said Carrie Wheeler, manager, specialty services, for McLaren Healthcare Village of Clarkston. “We’re excited to see the town turn pink.”
Twenty businesses are participating in the event, offering pink-themed shopping, sales, contests, drinks, and treats. Vendors offering massage, nails, relaxation, and pampering services, each for a $10 donation, will be in the Clarkston Mills Mall at 20 W. Washington Street. More than 300 purses will be in the recycled purse sale.
Shuttle service, donated by Bowman Chevrolet, will be available from Clarkston Flower Shoppe and other businesses on North Main Street to Kinetic Systems and Union General on South Main.
This is the fourth year of Paint the Town Pink and seventh for Pink and Pampered. Organizers have discussed combining the events for years, and this is the first year for the combined event.
Funds will be used to directly help patients at the McLaren Cancer Institute – Clarkston and McLaren Breast Center.
