Sister Mary Agnes of the Eucharist O.P. Died Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Lourdes Nursing Home of Waterford, Michigan. She was born Shirley Mae York July 13, 1936 in Flint, Michigan to the late Kenneth and Estella Marie (nee: Spracklen) York. She is survived by her Sisters in Religious Life; four daughters, Mary (Franco) Maras, Patricia (Brian) Rodgers, Christina (Justin) Ozee and Julie (Adam) Heidel; six grandchildren, Alexandra (Tucker) Brust, Eric Maras, Jacob Maras, Maya Heidel, Mitchell Ozee and Ellie (Joel) Dupuis; two great granddaughters, Rowan and Perrie Dupuis; she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Wilson. Sister Agnes first graduated from Nazareth College in 1957 in the Division of Nursing and later, in 1975 she returned to earn her Bachelor of Arts, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She entered the Monastery of the Dominican Nuns on December 8, 1999. On May 21, 2000, Sister received the Holy Habit and started her Canonical Year. On May 27, 2001 she made her first Profession of vows and May 16, 2004 she made her Perpetual Profession. While at the Monastery, Sister Agnes was a member of the council, nurse, archivist, novice mistress and sub-prioress. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Mt. Thabor with the burial on the grounds of Mt. Thabor. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Luncheon will follow after the interment.
