Brandon boys track earns three medals at New Lothrop Relays

Despite finishing eighth out of 11 teams at the New Lothrop Relays April 17, Brandon’s boys track teams had success in a number of events.
The Blackhawks earned three medals at the relays by finishing in the top three in a particular event. North Branch won the relays with 72 points, while Richmond finished second with 60 and Birch Run third with 54 points.
Taking medalist honors were: Mike Via and Josh Luczak, who finished third in the discus relay (227?11?), the shuttle hurdle relay team of Jason Ledgerwood, Mark Westphal, Jon Preston, and Adam Hyde, who finished first (1:16), and Hyde in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles (41.1).
Also scoring for the Blackhawks, by finishing in fourth through sixth place in their events, were the following: Jordan Wingett and Steve Pierce, sixth in the pole vault relay (16?6?); the 800 meter relay team of Preston, Ryan Smith, Hyde, and Matt Crandall (fourth, 1:40.5); and the sprint relay team of Hyde, Crandall, Smith, and Preston (fifth, 2:46.9).
The Blackhawks, who are currently 6-16, return to action April 28 when they host Oxford at 4 p.m.
