Brandon girls track takes fifth at New Lothrop Relays

Before heading back from Easter break, the Brandon girls track team held their own at the New Lothrop Relays April 17.
The Blackhawks finished fifth out of 10 teams at the relays, earning 54 points. Valley Lutheran took the meet with 82 points, while Armada finished second with 70 and New Lothrop third with 60.
‘We were really pleased with our effort,? Brandon coach Greg Hyde said.
Brandon earned six medals, awarded to those who finish in the top three in their event.
Finishing in second place were Savannah Stedman and Megan Ostrowski (high jump), discus (Sarah Bond, Stedman), Danie Ashford, Jessica Swineford, Ally Sowa, and Norissa Sockwell (shuttle hurdle relays), and Mariah Andre, Kelly Wilson, Ashford, and Kayla Doan (1600 meter relay).
In addition, Bond and Maria Schmidke took third in the shot put, and the team of Kelly Wilson, Kelly Quisenberry, Melissa Swineford, and Doan took third in the 3200 meter relay. Doan also finished fourth in the 3200 meter run.
The Blackhawks host Flint Metro League rival Oxford April 28 at 4 p.m.
