Brandon Twp.— During the Monday night special meeting, the Brandon Board of Education approved the issuance of a request for proposal to seek bids for custodial work.
“It has been 12 years since we bid out our custodial services,” said Jan Ziesel, chief financial officer of the district. “Given that and the instability in the workforce currently, we decided to look at all options for cleaning.”
The current custodial contract is with DM Burr, and the contract is over at the end of June. Ziesel said there has been turnover with custodial staff as well as trouble maintaining a full staff for a while.
“The RFP is planned to go out in a couple weeks,” she said. “We plan to make a recommendation to the Board of Education at the March regular board meeting.”
