Burn and run
At 6:45 p.m., Sept. 13, Brandon deputies responded to a request for assistance from the Brandon Fire department in the area of Hadley and Seymour Lake roads. Deputies were dispatched for a vehicle on fire. While en-route, deputies were advised that a man had exited the vehicle and jumped into a waiting vehicle, that then left the area. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle parked near the curb, partially off of the roadway. The fire was extinguished, and the interior of the vehicle smelled strongly of gasoline. There was an empty, one-gallon gas can on the rear seat floor boards. It appeared the seats had been soaked with gas and crumpled papers had been used as ignition points. Deputies observed the fire and smoke damage to the interior of the vehicle. It appeared the fire had burned itself out and the front windows were partially down. The vehicle was impounded, and the case remains under investigation.
Credit card fraud
At 8:28 p.m., Sept. 14, Brandon deputies responded to a request for assistance from a citizen in the 1000 block of Hayes. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a woman, who explained that several charges had appeared on her credit card account. She had already contacted the credit card company, and they advised her to make a police report. She stated that a week prior, she and a small group of friends and family went to a restaurant in Auburn Hills to celebrate a birthday, and that she had paid the group’s bill. She noticed the charges in the days immediately following.

Deputies called the restaurant and spoke to the manager. She identified the server for the group and said it was the server’s second day on the job. The manager said that to her knowledge, none of the employees have ever been involved in any sort of criminal activity and does not believe they are involved in the fraudulent purchases. She said only herself and the server would have been able to process payment for that bill. The case was forwarded to the detective bureau.
Neighborhood issues
At 8:24 p.m., Sept. 12, Brandon deputies responded to a report of neighborhood trouble on Sashabaw Road. Upon arrival, deputies met with the caller in the driveway. While attempting to speak to her, a male continuously interrupted, stating he had been assaulted by a neighbor. He was advised to step aside and stop interrupting. The caller was able to explain an ongoing disagreement with the neighbor, stating that the woman is upset about the caller’s dog barking. She said the neighbor had come over and was argumentative, and that the male intervened and the neighbor began shoving him. The man stated that the neighbor had come to their address and pushed him multiple times, but would not provide further details, only stating he was pressing charges. Deputies went to the neighbor’s home and she explained that she and the caller had been friends previously until the caller began dating the man. She had gone to the residence to talk to her, as they had previously been friends, and that the man had become confrontational and shoved her backwards. She did admit to pushing him back. Both the neighbor and the man were issued citations for fighting.
