‘East meets west? Glass Road opens

Brandon Twp.- Since last June Glass Road residents have endured, traffic jams, dust and fleets of heavy construction equipment. Flaggers, orange barrels and the stench of fresh asphalt characterized most of the summer.
Well, it’s over’almost.
With just a little clean-up to do, the construction is completed on the East-West Glass Road intersection which during the past few months was shifted to meet continuously at M-15.
The $900,000 alignment project, which included about $350,000 from the township, eliminated the need for a double traffic light system reducing the chance for accidents and ease traffic flow, say county and township officials.
‘I’m delighted,? said Ron Lapp, township supervisor. Although the project went just a few days past deadline it was officially completed on Aug. 31. Also, I’d like to thank the residents for their understanding, during the project.?
The alignment project which also included adding north and southbound turn lanes, was needed after many years of traffic congestion.
