Farm owner bound over on animal cruelty

Brandon Twp.- On March 8 a farm owner was bound over in Oakland County Circuit Court after authorities found abused animals on his township farm. .
Andrew Scott, 32, was arrested in December on a charge of animal cruelty or neglect of 10 or more animals. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison.
The Oakland County Animal Control investigation found 31 farm animals in his care, six of whom had died.
After an initial investigation in October and search of the farm, Scott was given 30 days to correct the problem. On Dec. 4, after not being able to contact Scott, OCAC obtained a search warrant and searched the property with Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies. There were five deceased animals on the property, and the remaining 26 animals were seized. One calf that was seized passed away later that day. The 25 remaining animals are living on farms with OCAC contracts.
Scott will be arraigned on March 21.
