A thankful citizen
Dear Editor,
I feel compelled to tell this story in hopes that it will lift your spirit during this time of so much turmoil and confustion.
Last year I was standing in line at Bueche’s and the gentleman who was in front of me left the line to look for a shorter line. I knew he would be coming back as he was already in the shortest line as I had been searching before getting in line behind him. I did not move my cart up but waited for his return. When he came back I said please get back in line, I saved your place for you. He was most gracious and said I didn’t need to do that and I said I knew you would be back so please just get back in line where you were. He thanked me and proceeded to check out his groceries.
Then when he finished it was my turn and when I went to pay for my groceries the clerk said the man that was in front of you left me $20 to put towards your groceries. I did not know this man and did not get a chance to thank him. Hopefully he is a resident and will read this story and know how much I appreciated his gesture.
We can not out bless the Lord and even though I wanted to be a blessing to this man I was immediately blessed by him. I didn’t really need the money but it was the gesture that counted. Everytime I go into Bueches and see that OCEF Box overflowing I am remined of how blessed we are to live in this giving community. If everyone who came in the store put just one item in the OCEF box we would all be sharing in this act of blessing others. I know a lot of people give to OCEF and hopefully we will all continue this act of kindness. All the glory belongs to the Lord and he repays us as he fills our hearts with joy for the simple act of giving.

No Don
Dear Editor,
So Donald Trump wants to run for re-election. What’s in it for him? I can not condone his manic attempt to fake the 2020 election results, then accuse president Biden of stealing the election. Does he think we are stupid? I hope not!
But it is very unsettling that some neighbors still support him. A want-to-be dictator, unless he is indicted and convicted for his crimes.
I am a veteran of the Korean War. He insulted all veterans, calling them suckers at a cemetery in France where thousands of soldiers remain from the invasion. He avoided the draft. He described their sacrifice when he said, ‘what was in it for them?’ Also that John McCain was no hero because he was shot down and captured. No, Donald, we can’t re-elect you to be commander in chief. Dale Bond
Thank you Goodrich
Dear Editor,
This year as in the past, we would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all who took the time to stop and donate to the Old Newsboys in Goodrich. We realize that sometimes it’s not convenient to pull out your wallet and stop to giving. And you do it with a smile. Every year we are more amazed at the generosity that is shown to this organization.
A huge thank you to our volunteers who step up every year to make this day a success. Some of you have been volunteering for years and others this was their first year. Could not do it without you. Our organization relies on the effort of the entire community from Goodrich, from Mrs.Benards class at the Goodrich High School who folds thousands of papers for us to the restaurants in town who always supply food for our counting party. They include, The Bull Ring, Cranberries and the Goodrich Country Club. Thank you.See you next year, Mark Trowbridge and Lynn Hoffman
