Angry old man
Dear Editor,
Just a few remarks concerning Bernie Sanders. I sure hope he is not the democratic nominee this year. In fact he isn’t even a democrat. He is a socialist. He promises free college, free health care, is he also going to pay our house payment, or rent, or food bill? I don’t believe anything he says.
By the way, have you ever seen a smile on his face? I haven’t. He’s an angry old man. There are at least three other much more qualified candidates to choose from. Don’t stay home. Go vote. Let’s dump Trump.

Thank you to the agents here at Real Estate One for organizing and hosting the meeting; thank you to Tropical Smoothie for the bringing amazing wraps and flatbreads; thank you Impact North for bringing the various nutritious and tasty Teas; and, thank you John Adams Mortgage for providing the refreshments.
Thank you to the firm of Rumball & Wojtkowicz, PLC for offering to complete the 501-c3 paperwork; thank you to the Brandon Township Library for offering to provide future meeting space for the Chamber; thank you to the 60 plus people who attended; thank you to those who volunteered on the spot to serve on the board and committees; thank you to past members of the chamber who offered to provide historical information and insight to make the reboot effort easier; thank you those who could not attend but emailed us to be kept advised moving forward.
To say the level of interest was ‘high’ would be an understatement. There will be some things happening in the very near future – look for a new facebook page in the next few days. In the meantime, anyone interested in volunteering, please email OrtonvilleREO@gmail.com for updates on future meetings.
This is an amazing and vibrant community and we cannot wait to see how the addition of a new Chamber of Commerce helps amplify the energy and momentum of not only our businesses, but our community as a whole.

The Shadow knows
Dear Editor,
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The old radio program “The Shadow” asks. The Shadow knows. I need the Shadow to tell me what is in a Trump voter’s heart.
What is in your heart, Trump supporter, when you say it is ok that he cages children that he has ripped away from their parents, perhaps forever?
What is in your heart when you read Trump’s recounting of how he turned his back on an injured elderly man, a guest @ his luxury home Mar-a-Lago, disgusted that blood was staining his “beautiful” marble floor?
What is in your heart when you hear with your own ears Trump brag about sexually assaulting women, because “when you are a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”
What is in your heart when you read Matt Taibbi’s summary of Trump as a “human consumption machine with no attention span, no self-control, no beliefs and no hobbies outside of sex, spending, eating and talking about himself”?
I see the MAGA hat on your head. I do not know what is in your heart.

System needs fixing
Dear Editor,
Hear ye Lucas Trump Chumps. How you all like the Trump economy now? Trumps booming stock market is in free fall. He has (sic) done a whole heck more for this country in three years than Barack Obama did in eight years. Who-Rah.
Trumps three years have been the most calamitous, destructive term in history. Elected with three million less votes than Hillary, the system needs fixing.
I pray voters in 2020 election think long and hard. We can’t afford another mistake. I have voted both republicans and democrats since I first voted while in service for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952. I treasure my I Like Ike button Dale Bond
(In response to, Why vote for Trump?, a letter by Bonnie Beltramo, The Citizen, Feb. 29, page 6)
Go Trump
Dear Editor,
Beltramo………I’ll give you the same advise as I did to Mr. Bond. Don’t make unfounded, wild accusations. If you can’t back it up with FACT then put your keypad away and go read a book. OH yeah……..while you’re reading take a look at Obama’s policies and what they generated in the 8 years he was President.

Stale economy, non support of the military, High interest rates, high unemployment numbers, the loss of many jobs to overseas competition, a ridiculous amount of new regulation etc, etc., etc!!!
Now in comes Trump and voila’ he makes some changes. Dumps all the dumb, needless regulations, does some incentives, lowers the taxes for everyone in general and America bounces back. Now we once again are thriving!!!!!!! You don’t need to hit me in the head with a hammer for me to see who we are better off with, it’s not even close!

Vote yes May 5
Dear Editor,
Goodrich Voters on May 5th the Goodrich School District will need the support from our community to pass a school bond that is necessary for much needed upgrades and improvements.
As a Goodrich Alum, current resident of Goodrich, mother of two and an employee of a nearby district, I will be voting YES for the May 5th Bond Proposal to support our schools. My husband and I came back to Goodrich to raise our family in my hometown when my son was two. My son graduates this year and my daughter will begin her high school years next year. I ask all Goodrich parents and community members to educate themselves about this bond by visiting the school website. Bond funds can ONLY be allocated for the projects listed in the proposal. You can find this information on the schools website: www.goodrichschools.org. There is also a community meeting to discuss the Bond renewal on March18th at 6:00 p.m., location Martian Community Room in the high school.
This non-tax rate increase bond will provide the district with 20.9 million for necessary improvements and upgrades. This bond will extend our current bond, currently set to expire in 2027, by five years. Interest rates on bonds are low; Low interest rates means quicker pay back.
In researching the planned projects funded by the bond I am HAPPY to see that our main focus is safety/security and infrastructure upgrades. Our students, staff and visitors deserve a secure environment. Some of the safety/security upgrades planned are entrance upgrades to the High School and Middle School, security cameras at entrances of ALL building and upgrade locks. Infrastructure upgrades include roof repairs, better HVAC system, bathroom improvements and bus drop off changes.
Our staff and students deserve to work/learn in buildings where the heat and the air conditioning actually work properly and where there are not buckets in the halls due to the roofs leaking. Another important piece of this bond is the addition of a gymnasium at Oaktree. Oaktree is currently the only building in the district that does not have a separate gymnasium space. Anyone with kids in sports/extracurricular clubs in our district understand the NEED for more gym space. I am proud to be a graduate of Goodrich Schools and will ALWAYS support our schools even when I know longer have children attending. I am asking our parents and community members to vote YES for this bond.
Leslie Cicalo, Goodrich Alum, parent and resident
