School board candidates to appear at forum

At 7 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at the Independence Township Library, candidates vying for two open Clarkston school board seats will be available to answer questions from members of the community. All eight Clarkston residents who are running for the seats have been invited to attend this Candidate Forum.
The candidate forum will be hosted by the Clarkston PTA Council and the Oakland Area League of Women Voters. The event will be moderated by officials from the League of Women Voters.
The forum is expected to last 90 minutes. Each candidate will have approximately 90 seconds to make an opening statement. The majority of the forum will include opportunities for each candidate to answer questions submitted in writing by audience members. If time permits, each candidate will also have 60 seconds to make a closing statement.
The Comcast Cable public access channel will videotape the forum for broadcast during the week of June 1. Exact dates and times for broadcast are still to be determined.
As of this release date four of the eight candidates running for the school board seats have confirmed their attendance at the forum.
The PTA Council is comprised of key PTA members from each of the Clarkston schools with PTA affiliation. Their goal is to promote strong PTA involvement and activity through shared resources and regular communication.
