Ortonville- A shattered front passenger door window may be a clue in a distructive spree that left locals irate and deputies seeking answers.
A motorist told deputies that early Monday morning a blue 1990 Ford F-150 pickup passed him on Ortonville Road and shot out his window with a Wrist Rocket or sling shot. The victim was driving north bound on Ortonville Road north of Glass Road and the alleged shooter was south bound about 2:15 a.m. when the incident occured.
Deputies believe it’s the same suspect that vandalized other vehicals and windows early Monday morning June 19:
nTwo buses and a van owned by the Edna Burton Senior Activities Center, 305 Ball St. were damaged. Several windows were damaged on the vehicles.
nA 2-by-4 foot plate glass window at the center was damaged by a ball baring found between the sections of glass.
nTwopassenger side windows where shot out of two 2006 Ford Mustangs at Randy Wise Ford 900 Ortonville Road.
nA rear window was shot out of an automobile parked in a driveway along Cedar Street near the Edna Burton Senior Activities Center.
nAn automobile rear window was shot out along Ball Street also near the center.
Pat Reed, part-time van driver at the Edna Burton Senior Activities Center said the vans are used to deliver lunches and take area seniors to appointments. On Monday apporintments were cancelled and many of the lunches taken out to seniors were delivered by center employees with their own cars.
‘These senior citizens are just steamin?,? said Reed. ‘Many of these people are on fixed incomes and they are putting up cash for a reward. This vandalism will cost taxpayers about $750 for the deductable.?
One local business offered to donate a car for the day to make deliveries, although by Tuesday the vans were drivable.
‘We are confideint that all the incidents are related,? said Detective Chris Pacholski of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Brandon Township substation. ‘Right now we’re looking for the 1990 blue pickup and we believe a Wrist Rocket or sling shot. It’s just a senseless act of vandalism.?
