Goodrich — Through a mini-grant, on Monday, Medstar Ambulances donated an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) to Atlas Township at the Goodrich Library, 10237 Hegel Road.
Following the presentation about 30 area residents participated in training at the Atlas Township Fire Department.
Medstar Ambulance recognizes community AED placement as the most important component of increasing cardiac arrest survival throughout its nine-county service area — including Genesee County.
When someone’s heart suddenly stops beating, every minute without defibrillation and CPR lowers the chance of survival by nearly 10 percent.
When a bystander uses an AED on a person in cardiac arrest, their likelihood of survival doubles.
