Fun to run

Students raced around Blanche Sims Elementary School on Sept. 26 for a good cause: Their school. The school held its first ever Fun Run for students and their families, as the primary all-school fundraiser for this year. The event was organized by the Blanche Sims PTO, and students walked or ran laps for 15 minutes at a time during school hours after asking for pledges to raise money for the fundraiser. The proceeds will go towards such educational enhancements as field trips and assemblies.

Pine Tree Elementary School and Blanche Sims Elementary School both held their annual Fun Runs, benefitting the schools? PTOs, on Sept. 24.
Pine Tree’s Fall into Fitness Annual Fun Run was expected to raise about $20,000 for the Pine Tree PTO, the same amount raised last year.
The Fun Run is the PTO’s only fundraiser, and pays for field trips, student incentives and assemblies.
At Blanche Sims, their PTO’s Fun Run is in its second year this year, and raised about $16,000 last year.
The PTO hoped to raise more this year. It is also their only fundraiser of the year.
Kroger, Farmer Jack, Meijer, Costco and Sam’s Club helped donate for refreshments at the Blanche Sims event.
