Public notices

Brandon Twp.- Residents wanting to know what’s up with township business can continue to find public notices in The Citizen.
By a 5-0 vote, the board continued a 10-year tradition as The Citizen being the newspaper of record. It’s a 2-year contract. The board sided with The Citizen’s $4.50 per column inch bid, over a cheaper bid of $4.25.
‘There are two good papers in the community,? said Clerk Jeannie McCreery. ‘It’s a difficult choice and we have to base our decision on different factors that are in the best interest of the people.?
An independent audit of The Citizen shows the paper has 85 percent readership. The competing newspaper, The County Line Reminder, did not have an independent audit.
‘My biggest concern is reaching the largest number of people so they are informed and I feel confident we are doing that with The Citizen.?
The Citizen publishes public notices from Brandon Groveland and Atlas townships, as well as the villages of Ortonville and Goodrich in print and online www.thecitizenonline.com.
