Skate Park seeks help

ORTONVILLE – The Phase I Skate Park equipment was delivered last fall and now Brandon Groveland Ortonville Recreation Director Fred Waybrant is asking for help to put it together.
“I plan to open the park the same day the equipment is put together,” said Waybrant.
After nearly two years of fund-raising and debate whether a skate park should be built within the village, Waybrant is ready to install the new equipment.
Made a reality mostly by money raised through fund-raisers, in-kind services, and donations from local businesses, Waybrant is confidently asking the community for a little more help to get the park opened.
Under the direction of Skate Lite, Waybrant plans to assemble the skate ramps and rails and figures with the help of 30 to 40 volunteers. It will only take six hours to build. A hot dog lunch will be served to the volunteers. Waybrant said volunteers should bring a standard tool set.
A Skate Park grand opening will be scheduled for later in the summer.
