Township ‘NET? bust nets guns, marijuana

Groveland Twp.-At about 8 a.m., Feb. 9, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) along with OCSO uniform deputies and OCSO K-9 Unit executed a search warrant at 941 Thayer Road. Confiscated in the raid was 439.0 grams of marijuana (about 1 pound), a loaded Beretta, .22 cal. handgun, loaded Colt .38 caliber revolver and a loaded Uzi 9mm assault rifle.
‘It’s about $1,000 of street value,? said Joseph Quisenberry, NET commander.
‘There are no virgin territories where drugs do not exist. Some want to believe the more rural the community, the less drugs. It’s not the case. Drugs permeate every section of our society’urban, suburban, and rural.?
The 1 pound of marijuana confiscated last week is more than for just personal usage, said Quisenberry.
‘There was intent to sell’although we cannot be sure it could have ended up in the school system.?
Quisenberry added the Uzi recovered was used to protect the suspect’s business.
Deputies arrested Richard Walter Lajdziak, 52. He was arraigned before 52-2 District Court Judge Kelley Kostin. Lajdziak, who had no previous criminal record, was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, a four year felony and possession of a felony firearm, a two-year felony which requires mandatory time.
His bond was set at $7,500.
