Village manager hospitalized

Ortonville- Village Manager Ed Coy expected to return to work today after suffering a mild heart attack more than a week ago.
Coy, 61, says he began having chest pains at about 3 a.m. May 6 and went to the emergency room at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
‘At first they said it was just chest pains, no heart attack,? Coy said. ‘But results from the blood tests indicated heart damage.?
Coy had a non-Q-wave heart attack, a condition in which blockage to the coronary artery partially damages the heart wall.
Coy, who is predisposed to high cholesterol and high blood pressure, had quintuple bypass surgery in 1999, in which two arteries from his chest and arm were used and three veins taken from his leg were used for his heart. Two of these veins failed in the village manager’s most recent heart episode and stents were placed in them.
‘I have no chest pain at all,? Coy said on Wednesday. ‘I’m a little weak, but other than that, I feel great.?
