Yellow Dog Marketplace: Antiques, vintage

Goodrich-For more than 30 years Marla Millar has been an inspired interior designer’reflecting a multitude of diverse tastes and styles.
On April 1 Millar’s three decades of expertise became available at Yellow Dog Marketplace, 7285 State Road.
‘You’ll find one of the most diverse and unique collections of antiques, vintage and salvage in the area,? said Millar. We maintain a large variety of vintage wood products, from antique appliances, hardware, stained glass, and furniture. We provide a location for artisans or collectors that have a product to sell inside our facility.?
The 8,400 square-foot marketplace is divided into 10-by-10 feet sections providing space for about 30 different vendors. So far vendors have filled about 90 percent of the space, added Millar.
‘We strive to keep a mix of unique products that change all the time,? she said. ‘No two homes are the same, so whether you’re redecorating or remodeling the inside or outside of your home or business, you can find an architectural salvaged item right here.?
For example, one of the hundreds of items in the marketplace is an original Grand Trunk Railroad sign.
‘I know it’s different,? she said pointing the weathered historic sign from the Flint area. ‘But it really makes a statement. A guest in your home would comment and say, ‘Where did you find that?? It’s not going to be found in a big box store or commercially reproduced.?
The possibilities with recycled and salvaged products is endless to refurbish or enhance your decor, she said. The antique toys, unique picture frames or mirrors are just a few of the items already on site.
‘The products change all the time,? she said. ‘No two items are the same, so stop by each week and peruse our selection. We are a local business and a source to support the area economy.?
On May 2-3, Yellow Dog will participate in the Heritage Route Garage Sale. Tables are available to rent for both days of the event.
